Guía de Isora: Don Agustín Borges Rodríguez (1868-1933),

After his return from Venezuela, our biographer began an outstanding military career, in which he quickly rose from soldier to Infantry Sergeant; With this job he worked as a clerk and, by lottery, he was assigned to the Cuban Army, which he did not go to by virtue of an exchange; However, he was assigned to the Philippine Army, where he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry and participated in different war actions against the insurgents, being taken prisoner by the Tagalogs;

He spent 15 months in their hands, until he managed to escape from captivity and return to Spain. Once in Tenerife he settled in Guía de Isora, his native municipality, where he continued to live the rest of his life; After Email Marketing List his retirement he was promoted to lieutenant and honorary captain of the Infantry reserve rank. Furthermore, in his native municipality he worked as a merchant and held numerous positions: chief corporal of the Somatén Armado, member of the Municipal Electoral Census Board, auditor and deputy of the electoral table, municipal prosecutor, secretary-accountant of the local Commission of La Cruz. He was born in the Chajajo neighborhood in Guía de Tenerife on July 1, 1868, at six in the morning, being the son of the industrial cooper Don Juan Borges Velázquez and Doña Victoria Rodríguez Baeza (Reyes), natives of Puerto de la Cruz de La Orotava and residents of the southern town. On the 9th of the same month he was baptized in the church of Our Lady of Light by the parish priest Don Domingo Mora y León; He was named “ Agustín Secundino ” and Mrs. Agustina Delgado, single and owner, of the same nature and neighborhood, acted as godmother.
