Google PageRank PageRank is an algorithm that assigns a numerical value to each link (hyperlink) present in a document on the World Wide Web. The purpose of PageRank is to measure the importance of a document in relation to the set of documents in which it is included. The algorithm can be applied to any collection of entities with mutual connections and references. Put more simply, PageRank is an algorithm that measures the value of a web page based on the links it receives from the parent site and other external websites. The PageRank value results from a mathematical algorithm based on the web link graph, made up of all the pages (nodes) and links (arcs) that form the web.

The PageRank value measures the importance of a particula rpage. A link to a Hong Kong Phone Number page counts as a vote of support. The PageRank of a page in turn depends on the PageRank of the pages that link to it. A page linked from other pages with high PageRank will in turn receive a high PageRank. Numerous academic papers have been written about PageRank since the original, and it is more than reasonable to think that the algorithm used by Google today may have changed over time. The PR has probably evolved towards a more precise, reliable algorithm and less influenced by Link Building techniques. Google fights link building with new algorithms, such as Penguin, which try to ignore non-natural links, i.e. non-spontaneous ones created with the sole purpose of modifying PageRank. There are other link-based algorithms for evaluating web pagest

The best known of which are: the HITS algorithm invented by Kleinberg and used by Teoma an algorithm developed oject the TrustRank algorithm the Hummingbird algorithm The history of PageRank The first PageRank formula was developed at Stanford University by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1996 as part of a project for a new kind of search engine. Sergey Brin had the idea of ordering information on the web on a hierarchical scale based on "link popularity": a page obtains a higher rank if it obtains a greater number of incoming links. The first patent describing the PageRank algorithm, and Google's first prototype, was published in 1998: shortly thereafter Page and Brin founded Google Inc. Although today the ranking of pages is calculated using different algorithms, PageRank is still one of the most important. The name “PageRank” is a play on words between the name of the creator Larry Page and the concept of web page ranking.
